FINDING AUDREY By Sophie Kinsella

Posted by Ideja B. on April 6, 2018 at 9:35 AM
This book took me on a journey of emotion, guilt, sadness and happiness. There were random moments for me where I would just burst out with laughter, and others where I would feel the tears arriving. However, I feel like this similar story has already been told in previous books I have read, therefore found it difficult to connect with Audrey. I enjoyed the fact that Kinsella was promoting the awareness of mental health, and how she portrayed the main character's struggles, but I personally felt like the idea could've been more original. I also understand that Audrey's mother has strong beliefs and has a personality that allows her to express those, but she seemed to have an over-exaggerated character. I often found some of the characters hard to imagine, as they seemed unrealistic. Nevertheless, I really admired Kinsella's writing style, as it contained movie scripts and personal notes that allowed the story to develop at a perfect pace. At some points of the book, I seemed to get a better understanding of Audrey, as her little comments and thoughts portrayed the novel as a diary, and that encouraged the idea of how how she was really feeling, and not how family or friends were imagining her to feel. I rate this book THREE STARS (visit the '3 Star Books' in the Books section to find out the image of the book, the blurb and where to buy the book - click the photo)
